Eoforwic Calendar

Meetings

Eoforwic Meetings are held every Tuesday at 6:30 pm at St. Andrew’s United Church, 117 Bloor Street East. From the Bloor-Yonge Subway station go east along the south side of Bloor Street. St. Andrew’s United is set back from the street. You will need to buzz in. The bell is to the right as you face the main entrance, near the door that enters to the lower part of the church. Be aware that there are two SCAs meeting in the church at the same time. We are Creative Anachronism, not Anonymous.

At our meetings we conduct any official business and make group decisions (like approving the annual budget). They are also a social time for conversation and shared learning. Sometimes there are meeting talks where members share their learning. Often people will bring projects to work on. Sometimes there are dance practices, game nights, movie nights, or other activities. If you have ideas for meetings, feel free to share them with the seneschal or the group (at a meeting).

Note: to see the Eoforwic Facebook page, you need to be a page member. If you’d like to join us, please answer the questions that appear when you ask to join – it makes the process faster!

Fight Practices

Fight practices are generally held Fridays at 7:30 pm in Greenwood Park by Gerard and Greenwood, April through October. It is accessible by TTC on the 506 Carlton streetcar line or the 31 bus from Greenwood or Coxwell (accessible) station. Fight Practices are generally focused on armoured combat depending on who is available, fencing may occur as well.

Events

Society Events are one of the principal activities of the Society for Creative Anachronism. In many ways, they are what it is all about. They are the occasions where we wear our medieval clothes, fight in tournaments or battles, eat feasts, dance, show off our arts, hold royal and baronial courts and generally bring the best parts of the middle ages into our modern world. Some events are one-day affairs, others are longer events that typically involve camping (although many people day-trip to the longer camping events).

To participate in an event, you need to wear an attempt at medieval clothing. If you don’t have any, contact the group Chatelaine (see the Officer page for contact details), who can help you borrow some until you have some of your own. If you are going to eat the feast at an event, you will need to bring your own plates, bowls, cups, cutlery, etc. Once again, the Chatelaine can help you borrow some if necessary.

Events are held all over Ontario (indeed, all over the world). If you need a ride to an event, ask on the in the Facebook group or on the Discord. There are often local people going with room in their cars.
