Baronial Rapier & Armoured Combat Champions

At Feast of the Hare, both a Baronial Rapier Champion and a Baronial Armoured Combat Champion will be chosen. In this tournament, we will refer to entrant and combatant as two different terms:

  • An entrant is someone who wishes to vie for the position of Baronial Champion.  An entrant must be a citizen of the Barony.
  • A combatant is a person who wishes to enter the tournament but does not wish to contend for the position of Baronial Champion.

Prior to the beginning of each tournament, entrants will register with the list.  Entrants must be authorized in the activity, whether it is Rapier or Armoured Combat, in which they wish to compete. The person running this tournament will call out to advise that the Baronial Champions Tournament is imminent and anyone who wishes to fight for the glory of the Barony may register with the list to compete. Once registrations are completed and the tournament is about to begin, the person running the tournament will advise that any person authorized in fencing or armoured combat may join the tournament as well, but will not be eligible to win.

Both the Rapier and Armoured Combat tournaments will occur in two parts.

In part one, we seek our finalists. Combatants and entrants will fight single pass duels in a Round Robin tournament until all combatants have fought all others.  Each combatant and entrant will keep track of their own wins and losses.   A double kill counts as a loss for both sides of the duel.  Wounds are not retained between duels. The two entrants with the highest number of wins proceed to the finals. The weapon forms allowable are:

  • Single weapon
  • Spear Weapon and parry device
  • Two weapon

In part two, we let the Stars decide: Combatants and entrants who are not the finalists will individually choose which combatant to fight for. The choice of who to fight for is up to the individual and they may not be required to state why they made the choice that they did. There is no requirement for the teams to be even. Choosing neither finalist is an acceptable choice. Choosing both finalists is not an acceptable choice. The combatants and the entrants will thus form two teams and include the finalist. The two teams will face off in melee. Whichever team wins, the finalist shall become Baronial Champion.
