Announcing: Seasons of the Sword

Cousins, I’m delighted to announce the first in a series of fencing-focused afternoon events in eastern Ealdormere (aka east of the GTA).

Aside from challenges to advance in ranks, the Academy has a mandate to encourage and foster skills in the art of defense.

Seasons of the Sword is part of that skill-building: a chance to learn new techniques, practice them on the day, and complete your fencing afternoon with a tournament.

This first event is in the stronghold of Greyfells, and the Academy has totally scored by having its patron Master Rigel leading a class about their just-published translation of New and Brief Method of Fencing by Alonso Falloppia of Lucca.

If you’re really lucky, and bring $20, you can walk away with a paper copy of your own!

Note: this event is on a Sunday (the day after the East Kingdom’s planned Crown tourney by rapier, as it happens). This date fits the schedule of the event site, and the organizers.

Please mark your calendar accordingly, and know there will be plenty of time to talk over the outcome of the Society’s first Crown selected by fencing.

My sincere thanks to Lady Lorette de Chasteauneuf, who brings vision, enthusiasm and labour to this project, and to TE Dubheasa and JoffR of the Althing for wanting to increase the numbers of folks committed to the art of defense.
