Greetings, Masquers, and welcome to this year’s World of Masque by Moonlight — a dinner, a game, and an entertainment where YOU are the players in a dramatic Renaissance tale of ambition, opportunity, and a most profitable expedition along the Silk Road!
WHO ARE YOU THIS YEAR?
You are part of an intrepid merchant caravan, driven by opportunity and an entirely reasonable desire for wealth. Your journey will take you across the East in search of rare goods and marvelous treasures, as you vie against rival Merchant Caravans for access to the most lucrative trade routes in each region.
Of course, commerce is rarely so simple.
You will find yourselves competing fiercely with other caravans, while also being forced to cooperate with them in ways that are, at times, inconvenient, and occasionally very profitable.
You will face many adventures along the way, and the finest reward of any adventure is the STORIES you will tell! Beyond the acquisition of goods to bring back to Europe for sale (which will, naturally, make you fabulously wealthy), you are also keenly interested in securing Royal favour to hasten your rise.
Their Majesties are constructing a magnificent Menagerie, the likes of which no other Kingdom has ever seen. To this end, you will seek to return with a singular gift from one of the four regions you visit — an exotic beast of remarkable rarity… and perhaps a little treasure to sweeten the negotiations. The more impressive the animal, the more enticing the treasure, and the more entertaining the stories you bring home, the greater your prestige and influence will be within the courts of Europe. Reputation, after all, is simply another form of currency — and one that spends very well.
Your travels are, however, not without peril!
The road is long, the deserts unforgiving, and there are cutthroats along the way who would happily separate you from gold.
They are to be avoided at all costs… (or, should the price be right, perhaps hired — ‘wink’).
Pre-registration for this event is *required*, as attendance is limited due to venue restrictions.
Although the SCA complies with all applicable laws to try to ensure the health and safety of our event participants, we cannot eliminate the risk of exposure to infectious diseases during in-person events. By participating in the in-person events of the SCA, you acknowledge and accept the potential risks.
