We had a wonderful day at the Lady Mary Memorial Tournament. I’d like to give my heartfelt congratulations and thanks to Baron Dmitri and Baroness Gema for their leadership of the event team – your team provided fantastic service and did the barony proud!
I’d also like to thank Their Royal Majesties for attending, and going all in at the event. His Majesty Evander held his list to enjoin new fighters, and gave witness to the tournaments on the list. Her Majesty Marioun joined the judges’ panel for the Scholar’s Tournament, hosted a fantastic Cartoon Art Show, and accepted a Lady Mary favour to gift.
I am grateful to the noble ladies who joined me in gifting the Lady Mary favours this year: Her Majesty, Countess Genevieve, who did so much all day), Mistress Aibhilin fra Skye, who also supported me throughout the day), and Baroness Gema. It is always a challenge to remember throughout the day that we need to select only one person to gift these favours to, and recognize their contributions to the day. So that all may know who received these favours: Her Majesty recognized Lady Dorothea, Her Excellency Genevieve recognized Lord Grimr, Mistress Aibhilin recognized lady Muirin Ayotte (a lovely visitor from the Barony of Rhydderich Hael), Baroness Gema recognized Her Grace Kaylah, and I was pleased to present my favour to Lord Damian.
We ran the Mistress Rachael McLellan Memorial Scholar Tournament for the second year, with six entrants: Magistra Nika, Noble Rhys of Anglesey, lady Murin, Captain Robert (also from the Barony of Rhydderich Hael), Lord Artair MacArtair of Orkney, and Noble Corcrán Hálftrǫll. The challenge is to display a completed project, to complete a project on site, and to present/perform/demonstrate a skill. All of the projects were nobly done, and I appreciate the work that has gone into them – and look forward to seeing where some of the work may lead. We had a challenging decision, and the judge’s panel recognized Corcrán Hálftrǫll as the tournament winner, who also accepted the role of A&S Champion for The Barony of Rising Waters.
The annual silent auction is one of my favourite activities, and I appreciate Lady Eydis Drifa’s service in coordinating it. Sixty-four items were donated to the auction! Thank you to those who made these donations and to those bidders who picked up their winnings after court.
Finally, I’d like to thank those who supported me throughout the day (read: kept me hydrated, fed, and mostly on schedule), including his Lordship Ieuan ap Gwylim, Mistress Aibhilin, Lord Iustus di Cordoba, Mistress Annabelle Makmyllane, and Elizabeth of Galloway. I may sit on the Baronial seat alone, but it is truly a team effort. Thank you!
Honoured to sit the Baronial Seat of Rising Waters,
Sciath ingen Chaennaig
