Personae

Okimâw

Okimâw Mihko’s first event was Gwyll y Flam in September of 2023.

Okimâw Mihko Pîsim (pronounced mih-ko piisim; they/them), also known as Ren, is a Two-Spirit, First Nations (indigenous) North American.

Mihko Pîsim means “Red Sun” in Nêhiyawêwin (Cree spoken language) and is written ᒥᐢᑯ ᐲᓯᒼ in syllabics. This is the official registered name, though Ren is their colloquial name.

In reference to a title, it is appropriate to refer to Ren as: Okimâw Mihko, Okimâw, Ren, Their/Your Excellency. Preferred pronouns: they/them

Okimâw Mihko gave their oath of fealty in Nêhiyawêwin. The full oath and translation are available on the Ealdormere Wiki.

Umesaya Soukurou-rokui/Baronial Rhys of Anglesey

Umesaya-rokui/Rhys’s first event was a Mega Practice held in Rising Waters in the fall of 2019 and has served in the Barony in various roles before becoming Rising Waters’s co-Baronial.

Umesaya means “teahouse of the plum”, and they would be happy to discuss the origin of the name with you in person anytime! Umesaya-rokui also has an alternate persona that they use, Rhys of Anglesey, an Iron Age Welsh Druid.

Umesaya-rokui was born in the Muromachi period, the ninth male child of their family. At an early age, Umesaya was entrusted to a teahouse to learn the role of a kagema. Taken under the wing of a kindly patron, they flourished and thoroughly enjoy their role as, what the Western world would call, a courtesan (of sorts).

It is appropriate to refer to Umesaya/Rhys as: Umesaya-rokui, Umesaya Soukurou-rokui, Umesaya-dono, Baronial Rhys, Their/Your Excellency. Note that “-rokui” cannot be used as a stand-alone term of address and that “Umesaya” should not be used without a suffix, without permission, nor should they ever be addressed simply by their first name “Soukurou”. It is customary in Japanese to add an honourific to a person’s last name (Umesaya) unless the individual is a very close friend/family member. Preferred pronouns: they/them

Umesaya-rokui gave their oath of fealty in Japanese. The full oath an translation are available on the Ealdormere Wiki.
