Archery
If you want to try your hand at archery, come on out and shoot some arrows! Many events have it outdoors during the warm months, and local groups may have weekly practices indoors or outdoors. If you have your own equipment, that’s great. You can use a fiberglass or wood bow, or even a crossbow. We don’t use pulleys or balancing weights or sights on our bows. If you don’t have your own bow, many local groups will have loaner gear for their practices. Some people even make their own bows and arrows, and can teach you how to make your own. Our archery range is run by a marshal, who is a the person in charge of safety who will say when to shoot and when to retrieve your arrows, and inspect your equipment to ensure it’s safe. Our typical range or shoot at an event is 20, 30, 40 or even up to 100 yards long. We shoot at paper targets, wooden wand targets, clout shoots into a ring, wooden ‘charging viking’ stands to represent enemies, or targets with a slot or hole to shoot through. A shoot might be timed (seeing how many arrows we can shoot in a short time) or a series of rounds (take your time for accuracy). Want To Know More? Our Archery Handbook details our archery rules. If you have more questions, feel free to email the person in charge of our archery activities across Ontario, they are called the Kingdom Archery Marshal. ealdormerearchery@gmail.com Come join us on the range! |
